Center of Hydrogen Science（CHS）of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, founded on June, 2018, is a comprehensive research platform covering two major fields, energy and life. It is the first cross-platform dedicated to hydrogen energy, hydrogen medicine and hydrogen agronomy research in China, and also a research center of forward-looking strategic layout of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
CHS integrates scientific research and innovative personnel training, focuses on key common technologies such as hydrogen preparation, hydrogen storage and transportation, and hydrogen application. It is mainly devoted to forward-looking scientific research, as well as basic application research. In the field of hydrogen science, it is committed to achieve deep integration of cross-disciplines, achieve leading original achievements and major breakthroughs in key common technologies, and finally build a hydrogen science center and talent training base with world influence.
The construction of CHS fully embodies the interdisciplinary characteristics and involves many key disciplines, including material science and engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, information and communication engineering, control science and engineering, electronic and electrical engineering, medicine, pharmacy, agronomy and life science. Interdisciplinary integration is fully reflected in mechanism research, technology development and construction of the demonstration base.
Based on the talent team construction concept of "People-oriented, Some-in and Some-out, Only for Use Not for Possessing, Dynamic Developing", the center dynamically introduces innovative talents committed to hydrogen energy, hydrogen medicine and hydrogen agriculture at home and abroad, and builds a scientific and reasonable talent echelon. At present, CHS has one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 26 young and middle-aged leaders and four young talents.

The center plans to build a hydrogen science research platform in Shanghai within three years. Achieve leading original achievements and major breakthroughs in key common technologies to support the development of Shanghai's hydrogen industry; establish a national hydrogen science research platform within five years to provide important support for China's future energy and environmental transformation, biomedicine, agriculture, and economic and social development; within ten years Become a hydrogen science and technology innovation center with world influence, gathering first-class talents at home and abroad in the field of hydrogen science. -
The platform will be open throughout the whole process to attract and introduce outstanding scientists in Shanghai Jiaotong University and even in around the world, making this platform a research center that gathers first-class talents in this field at home and abroad, and a cradle for cultivating young talents in hydrogen science and technology in my country.
The scientific research output of this research platform will lead the world's hydrogen science and technology development, and provide important support for my country's future energy and environmental transformation, biomedicine, agriculture, and economic and social development.
